Originally an Adelaide nursing home, in its latter years “Joist Manor” became office space used by local sports and ambulance associations.
Along with ~135 other buildings, it has been purchased and marked for demolition by the SA Government as part of a major roadway widening. Many of the buildings along this road now sit abandoned…
After seeing Scott McCarten’s “Heartbreak Hotel” photo posted on Urban Exploration Adelaide we just had to locate it. It took a while — it wasn’t an easy find, but items in the distance beyond the window frame gave us clues…
Constructed in the 1850’s it was used as a Hotel until the early 1900’s after which it became office space. This heritage listed building now sits in a state of disrepair.
A massive abandoned and disused shed that was once the Department of Marine and Harbors Dockyard where their fleet of ships was repaired.
